DALY CITY HOST LIONS CLUB
About Lions International
Lions are members of the world’s largest and most active service club organization – Lions Clubs International.
Who care Lions?
Lions are people who care about their communities—and take action to make them better. As members of Lions Clubs International, Lions are part of a worldwide network of more than 1.4 million men and women serving through approximately 50,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographic areas.
We Serve
Since 1917, Lions have shared a simple belief: we can accomplish more when we work together. Service takes many forms - from meeting needs right here in our own communities to supporting humanitarian efforts around the world. Lions give their time and talents where they can make a difference.
A Legacy of Vision
In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become “Knights of the Blind.” That challenge helped make vision one of the defining causes of Lions service.
For more than a century, Lions have supported vision screenings, eyeglass recycling, eye banks, research and programs that help prevent blindness and improve the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired.
Give what you can, when you can!
Being a Lion doesn’t mean giving up all your free time. There is no set requirement for how much time you must give. Some members volunteer for an hour here and there; others choose to become more involved. Every contribution matters.
Service is better together
Lions are neighbors, friends, families and community leaders working side by side. Along the way, we build friendships, strengthen our communities and show the next generation what it means to help others.
Our motto says it best: WE SERVE
There’s a place for you in Lions. Come serve with us.
Lions Code of Ethics
-
To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
-
To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
-
To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another’s; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
-
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
-
To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
-
in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, as to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed. To give them freely of my time, labor and means.
-
To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
-
To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
